Undo a change

Goal: take back a change made through avenir-mcp.

Tool: undo_operation.

The conversation

1. Ask.

   You: Undo that.

2. The agent previews the undo. undo_operation with {"plan_id": "last-used"} finds the latest operation of the plan still in effect, and shows what undoing it would change — here, two transactions going back to no category:

3. You confirm. The previous state is restored, and the operation is marked undone in the journal.

To undo an older operation, give its id: “undo operation 3f9a…”. Every applied operation’s answer carries its operation_id.

What can be undone

Anything left alone is listed in conflicts: undo never overwrites later work.

Not undoable: update_category (call it again with the previous name and group), create_category (hide the category in YNAB), split_transaction (YNAB’s API cannot change a split: edit it in YNAB), approve_transactions (approval is a review flag).

Note

An undo cannot itself be undone, and undo works on the machine whose journal recorded the operation.
